What Unlock PDF does

Unlock PDF removes password protection from a document you own, so it can be opened without a prompt. If the file needs a password to open at all, you supply it once here. The output is rebuilt page by page into a genuinely unencrypted document — not a re-saved copy that still carries the original encryption dictionary.

How to unlock pdf

  1. Select the protected PDF.
  2. Enter its password if it requires one to open.
  3. Press Unlock PDF and download the unprotected copy.

Privacy

Decryption happens in the tab using the password you type. Neither the file nor the password is transmitted.

Questions

What if I do not know the password?

Then the file cannot be unlocked. This tool removes protection from documents you can already open; it does not break encryption.

Is the password stored anywhere?

No. It lives only in the page's memory for the duration of the operation and is never written to storage, a URL, or a log.

Why did my file stay protected?

Older builds re-saved the document, which preserved the encryption dictionary. The current version rebuilds the file, which genuinely removes it.
